Festivals
Here at PopRadio77, we are all music obsessed!
One thing that has been challenging for me and many other Pop Radio 77 employees, is the lack of live music, concerts, and festivals throughout this past year. Of course, safety is always the number one priority. But when you are passionate about music, it feels like a little part of you is missing when you can longer go out to see live music. Personally, nothing is more exciting than spending a day at a festival filled with live music, friends, food, and maybe even some sunshine.
According to EDMtunes.com, 63% of all festival goers described their experiences as LIFE-CHANGING! These results were based on a survey of 665 festival goers conducted by Cloud Cover Music.
Most Popular Music Festivals
Some of the most popular and memorable festivals from the 1960’s are:
Monterey International Pop Music Festival (1967)
Ranked one of the greatest music festivals of all time, Monterey International Pop Music Festival was a three-day festival with the aim of elevating rock music to the same level of jazz and folk music. This festival introduced the world to future stars like Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Ravi Shankar, Otis Redding, and The Who.
- Headliners: The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Who, Ravi Shankar, Otis Redding, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, and Simon & Garfunkel.
Woodstock (1969)
Woodstock won the top spot, in the previously mentioned survey, with 82.4% of people feeling their life had been altered by this festival.
